SPORTSNET EXPRESS ROLLING HOTEL:
Q: Is there an option to not have the train travel overnight when in Bathurst?
A: No, the train must be mobile for a number of systems to work correctly.
Q: What happens if I miss the train in Bathurst? Is there an option to get on at a later time?
A: No. The train must and will depart at the exact allocated time so missing it is not an option unless you enjoy sleeping overnight on the streets of Bathurst.
Q: Do I have the flexibility to decide what time to get off the train to attend the races?
A: Unfortunately not. Once the train has arrived in Bathurst, all passengers will be required to get off immediately at which time the train is shunted away into a siding.
Q: Am I able to access the train during the day?
A: No access is allowed to the train when in the siding.
Q: Are meals included?
A: Yes, a hot and cold breakfast is included daily on the train. All other meals and drinks are at your own expense.
Q: Where do we eat breakfast?
A: Breakfast is eaten on board in one of the Dining Cars and will commence no less than 2 hours before arrival in Bathurst.
Q: Are there bars on board?
A: Yes, there are two Bar and Lounge Cars that will be open until midnight each night. You are able to purchase a range of snacks (nuts and chips) and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks all at very reasonable prices.
Q: Can I pay for snacks/beverages on board with a credit card or EFTPOS?
A: Purchases on board can be made by cash only.
Q: Is there an ATM (cash out) facilities on board?
A: Unfortunately not. Cash only on board.
Q: Can food and alcohol be taken on board the train?
A: The entire train is a licensed venue – no BYO alcohol is permitted. Food can be brought on board.
Q: Am I able to extend my stay on the train?
A: No, the dates and times of the tour are set in concrete unless something unforeseen occurs.
Q: Where does the train travel throughout the night?
A: The train is likely to travel to Orange and then towards Stuart Town in Western NSW. These train lines are quiet and rarely used so we have maximum operational flexibility.
Q: What is the bedding configuration of the berths?
A: Twin berths have bunk beds and a private ensuite including shower, toilet and washbasin. Single rooms a have toilet and washbasin with two shared showers at the end of the carriage. Cabins can be altered to daytime or night configuration with the beds folding away to become seats. Please note there are not double beds on board the train.
Q: Are cabins cleaned and serviced daily?
A: Yes, by on board staff.
Q: Am I able to lock my room and valuables when not on the train?
A: No, but the train is secure and only staff are present on board at this time. Rooms can be locked from the inside only.
Q: Can I fly out the same day as the train arrives?
A: We highly recommend that guests allow for at least 3-5 hours after the scheduled arrival time of a train, or preferably an overnight stopover (especially for international flights) before a plane flight. Unfortunately, trains can sometimes be delayed and run behind schedule.
Q: Are there luggage restrictions?
A: There is minimal space for luggage. We recommend one medium sized suitcase per passenger.
Q: Can you smoke on board?
A: The entire train is non-smoking.
Q: What medical assistance is provided by train staff?
A: First aid qualified attendants are on board.
Q: Am I able to join and depart the tour in Bathurst and not Sydney?
A: Yes, that is your choice however the price of the package will remain the same. Please advise your Sportsnet travel consultant at time of booking.
Please note for the Sportsnet Express Rolling Hotel to proceed, a minimum number of 70 passengers is required. A full refund for your package (excluding flights) will be provided.
